Active in BALAS since 2000, Jones co-chaired the 2003 annual conference in São Paulo and served as the Brazilian representative to the BALAS board. "San Antonio is strategically located at the geographic and academic crossroads of Latin America, and the College of Business is honored to be the new home of BALAS," said Dean Lynda de la Viña. "We have recently focused and expanded our Latin American activities through the creation of the Business Studies for the Americas program, which is led by Dr. Jones." Jones joined the college's faculty in 2005. Previously she had served as associate dean for international relations at Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo de Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. Jones' research specialties include international marketing, international management and Latin American studies. She received her doctoral degree from Cornell University, a master's from the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania and a double bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. BALAS is the first international business and economics professional association to focus exclusively on the study of economics, management, leadership and industry in Latin America and the Carribbean. The organization is strongly international in character, with members from all over the world and 30 countries. BALAS provides a leadership role in sponsoring forums for exchanges of ideas, information dissemination, research collaboration and education activities of the highest professional quality. |
