Country information:
Location Information: Commonly referred to as CIU, the campus is located in the town of Paderno del Grappa, close to nearby Asolo. The location of the campus offers the cultural experience of living in a small Italian community while providing direct access to the well-known art and history treasures of the Veneto. The Veneto region, with its major cities of Venice, Padua, Vicenza, Verona and Treviso, is considered to be the most economically advanced region in Italy. During the past several years, the region of Veneto has enjoyed Europe’s highest rate of economic growth with low unemployment. A large part of that economic growth can be directly attributed to the efforts of the local business community in developing international markets.
Campus information: Nestled in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains, CIU is a full-service campus with numerous classrooms, a 450-person theater, a large student cafeteria, dormitory rooms, computer and language labs, and modern athletic facilities including indoor swimming pools, a weight room and a gymnasium.
Program Overview: The Consortium of Universities for International Studies offers a broad array of European experiences through its study abroad opportunities offered to graduate and undergraduate students. They can partake in one of several study abroad opportunities offered in Italy through a unique consortium of accredited U.S. universities of which UTSA is a member. Programs for undergraduates include both semester and summer programs. The study abroad program for graduate students is in the summer. University of Kansas, School of Business .
Academic Program: The Italy program delivers rigorous, high quality, professional courses taught in English. Courses focus in the areas of Business, Journalism, Economics, and Communications Studies; however, other electives also are offered. These programs are designed to provide students with a meaningful international experience while allowing the student to remain on schedule for graduation. Students may take up to 18 credits. In addition to courses in their majors, all students are required to take one course in European Culture. They may take it either for 1 credit or 3.
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to earn four different certificates during the semester: CIMBA Certificate in International Business, CIMBA Kepner-Tregoe Mind Based Performance Certificate, Rapport Leadership Breakthrough I Certificate, LEAP (Learn, Enrich, Achieve, Perform) Certificate Program To learn more about these certificate programs, please see: http://www.cimbaitaly.com/Undergraduate-142/Index.htm.
Academic Credit: UTSA students receive transfer credit from the University of Kansas,
the Consortium’s degree and credit granting institution. (Course equivalencies (pdf format) - print in landscape.)
