Students

Carlos Naranjo and Natalia Devora Quintera prepare for the start of the semester with the assistance of MSMOT alumnus and current doctoral student Ruben Mancha.

Two students from the Canary Islands joined the UTSA College of Business Management of Technology program this fall. Natalia Devora Quintera and Carlos Naranjo received scholarships from The Fundacion Empresa Universidad de La Laguna in Spain to study at UTSA. They began classes this fall and will complete their degree in Summer 2008. The scholarships were made possible by the Amigos de San Antonio en Canarias, an MOT alumni group comprised of students from the Canary Islands.

In the Canary Islands, Natalia worked in the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Ja?n. She was in charge of European Research and Development programs and collaborative research funding. Carlos, who received his undergraduate degree as an industrial organizational engineer, worked in technological innovation for La Caja de Canarias, a financial institution. Both Natalia and Carlos are currently working as graduate research assistants for Dr. Cory Hallam, director of the Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship.

The MOT program has a longstanding partnership with the Canary Islands. For the past several years graduate students have studied in the program and college faculty members have visited the Canary Islands to strengthen the exchange program.

The Management of Technology program offers professionals in scientific, engineering, mathematical or other technology-based disciplines the opportunity to develop and improve managerial and business skills. The program offers two master's degrees: a M.B.A. concentration in management of technology and a master of science degree in management of technology.
